Jonathan Bussey, DO, MPH

Jonathan Bussey, DO, MPH is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Penn Highlands Neurosurgery in DuBois, Greensburg, Huntingdon, Indiana and Monongahela.

With two decades of experience, Dr. Bussey provides highly specialized care to patients with brain, spine or nerve diseases and injuries utilizing innovative procedures and state-of-the-art technology. From simple procedures to complex brain and spine surgery, Dr. Bussey offers world-class care to patients in our region.

Dr. Bussey graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Okla. He also earned a Master of Public Health in Health Administration and Policy at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He completed his residency in neurological surgery at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, N.J. He completed a fellowship in neurosurgical trauma at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J.

Dr. Bussey’s research interests include obesity facilitated perioperative complications in elective degenerative lumbar fusion, association of BMI to perioperative complications in lumbar fusions and pharmacokinetics of SUN13837 injection in adult subjects with acute spinal cord injury.

He has published in many academic journals, including PACE, Circulation and Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology.

He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Sigma Sigma Phi and American Medical Writers Association.
