Advanced Fertility Treatments Deliver High Success Rate
I Want to Know How to Get Pregnant
You are not alone. About one in 10 couples of reproductive age have trouble getting pregnant. If you and your partner are having difficulty conceiving, there is good reason to hope. Advancements in fertility treatments and reproductive technologies make conception a reality for more than 80% of couples with infertility problems.
At Penn Highlands Life's Journey OB/GYN and Penn Highlands Women's Care, we understand the physical, emotional, and financial toll infertility can take on those wishing to conceive. Our board-certified physicians, OB/GYN nurse practitioners, and other fertility experts specialize in determining the cause of fertility challenges and determining the most effective treatment options.
From your initial assessment throughout your fertility treatment journey, our compassionate staff is there for you, answering your questions, and always delivering the highest standard of care.
What Will My Initial Assessment Include?
PH Life's Journey OB/GYN offers a comprehensive infertility evaluation and therapy program. At your initial assessment you will meet with your provider, discuss your medical history, and take a series of tests.
Initial tests include:
- Blood work to evaluate hormone levels
- Ultrasound to provide information on the ovaries, endometrial lining, and uterus
- Hysterosalipinogram (HSG) which uses X-ray to look at your uterus and fallopian tubes
A semen analysis may be performed to determine any male causes of infertility.
Your provider will discuss test results with you and recommend a course of action, which may include fertility treatments.
What are Fertility Treatments?
Fertility treatments include medications, surgical procedures, and assisted conception such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Fertility Medications, also called fertility drugs, signal your body to release natural hormones that trigger ovulation. Ovulation is the release of a mature egg from the ovary.
Surgical Procedures to treat or remove scar tissue, fibroids, ovarian cysts, polyps, or blocked fallopian tubes that may be interfering with conception.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a type of artificial insemination where a doctor or specially trained nurse introduces washed sperm into the cervix or uterus during ovulation.
