Claire Melin, MD
Claire Melin, MD, is an emergency medicine physician at Penn Highlands Tyrone.
Dr. Melin is a highly experienced physician with a broad depth of knowledge providing emergency care within urban, suburban and rural settings. She provides expert care to patients experiencing serious illnesses or injuries in Tyrone and the surrounding area.
She graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, N.Y., and completed a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. She is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Melin’s research includes weight loss intervention for overweight adults with type II diabetes, monoclonal antibody targeting β-amyloid (bapineuzumab) to treat Alzheimer’s disease, internet-based weight loss intervention program for colorectal cancer survivors and intraoperative consultation for donor liver biopsies.
Dr. Melin has served on multiple local and national committees with a focus on graduate medical education and event medicine, including the Education Committee for Graduate Medical Education at UVA Hospital and the High Threat High Casualty Task Force, Event Medicine Section and Public Relations Committee of the National ACEP.
