Innovative Varicose Vein Treatment
Venous Ablation
Penn Highlands Healthcare offers Venous Ablation, a varicose vein treatment process used to help ease symptoms such as pain, swelling, and irritation in the legs.
What is venous ablation?
Venous ablation is a minimally invasive outpatient treatment for people suffering from the pain, swelling, throbbing, heaviness and itching associated with varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
What treatment options are offered at Penn Highlands?
With varicose veins and CVI, the valves in the leg veins that direct blood from the legs back toward the heart no longer function properly causing blood to pool in the legs. Penn Highlands Healthcare offers minimally invasive treatments that seal problem veins to re-route blood to another path.
VenaSeal uses a medical glue to close affected veins. This special glue holds the walls of the vein together, stopping and then redirecting the blood flow to healthy veins. With time, the body will absorb the inactive veins and they will disappear.
The ClosureFast™ procedure utilizes radiofrequency energy to provide consistent and controlled heat to contract the collagen in the vein walls, causing them to collapse and seal.
