Named to the “Top 65 Total Knee Replacement Surgeons to Know” by Beckers’ ACS Review, Dr. Varacallo is one of only two surgeons in the US using the advanced Fertilized ACL technique. The technique helps patients recover faster and prevent reinjury by expediting the healing of bone tunnels, which are a common phenomenon after ACL reconstruction. A sports medicine doctor is a physician who specializes in caring for athletes of all abilities, whether you play a competitive sport, exercise for enjoyment or health reasons, or have an active or strenuous job. Doctors who specialize in sports medicine most often deal with injuries and conditions that affect the bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. That can include acute injuries like ankle sprains, muscle and tendon tears, fractures, and knee injuries such as a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).
