What Conditions do Rheumatologist Treat?
Rheumatologists treat four types of conditions:
Inflammatory Disorders – conditions affecting the joints, muscles and bones. Examples include osteoarthritis and Crohn’s Disease to name a few.
Autoimmune Diseases – these occur when a person’s immune system attacks healthy tissues in the body. Examples include lupus, multiple sclerosis, celiac disease and more.
Connective Tissue Disorders – conditions that impact ligaments, tendons and skin such as tendonitis and tennis elbow.
Inherited Conditions – ailments that are passed along through generations such as osteoporosis and scleroderma.
