Welcome Michael Pelekanos, MD

Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes double board-certified urogynecologist Michael Pelekanos, MD, to its medical staff.

Dr. Pelekanos joins the team at Penn Highlands Urogynecology, located at 700 Park Street, Suite 6, in Connellsville, and a new location coming soon to Greensburg.

Dr. Pelekanos has more than 30 years of experience and specializes in urogynecology, a subspecialty of gynecology focused on women with pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Pelekanos is one of only six instructors in the United States who teaches the EnPlace procedure, an exciting new option for women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP), and Penn Highlands Urogynecology is one of only a handful of U.S. sites offering this unique, FDA-cleared option to help resuspend a dropped uterus.

Although Dr. Pelekanos has delivered over 6000 babies in his career, his practice is limited to gynecology. He will offer routine annual exams for women, endometriosis surgery, infertility surgery, multiple surgeries for pelvic organ prolapse including the EnPlace procedure and surgical procedures for urinary incontinence.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Pelekanos practiced at East Suburban OB/GYN Associates in Monroeville, one of the largest private practices in Pittsburgh. He was the lead physician at East Suburban OB/GYN Associates for more than 30 years.

Dr. Pelekanos graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Magee Women’s Hospital, University of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh.

He was recently named in Pittsburgh Magazine’s Top Doctors in the field of Urogynecology. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and American Urogyn Society.
