Gurvinder Bhardwaj, MD

Gurvinder Bhardwaj, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist at Penn Highlands DuBois. Dr. Bhardwaj specializes in nephrology, a specialized branch of internal medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the kidneys and urinary system. In addition to treating patients at Penn Highlands DuBois, Dr. Bhardwaj offers telemedicine services to all Penn Highlands hospitals.

Dr. Bhardwaj graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Ill., and completed a residency in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., and a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Dr. Bhardwaj’s research includes the role of steroids in IgA nephropathy (results of STOPIgAN), medical and invasive management of hepatorenal syndrome, endovascular intervention in renal artery stenosis, hypercalcemia in adrenal failure, dangers of contrast-induced nephropathy, ultrasound characteristics of fistula target vessels, impact of diabetic education on patient adherence and depression in cardiac patients, among others.
