Welcome Zachary Senders, MD
Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes board-certified surgeon Zachary Senders, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Senders joins the teams at Penn Highlands Oncologic and General Surgery at 800 Plaza Drive in Rostraver Township and 401 East Murphy Avenue in Connellsville and Penn Highlands Oncology/Hematology at 1163 Country Club Road in Monongahela.
Dr. Senders is a board-certified surgeon offering highly specialized, multi-disciplinary surgical cancer care and expertise in general surgery. Dr. Senders has a decade of experience and is a fellowship-trained specialist, achieving the highest level of education in his field.
Common treatments and procedures include adrenalectomy; breast care, biopsies and surgery; colon and rectal resection; gastrointestinal surgery for cancer; cytoreduction/debulking surgery; resection (removal) of melanoma and other skin cancers; resection (removal) of trunk, extremity, and abdominal sarcomas; sentinel lymph node biopsy; liver surgery and biopsy for metastatic and primary liver tumors; pancreatic cancer surgery including the Whipple procedure; surgery for pancreatitis; surgery for benign and malignant bile duct diseases; gallbladder removal; insertion and removal of catheters/ports; repair of abdominal wall/groin hernias; and thyroid/parathyroid surgery. He performs many of his operations using minimally invasive/laparoscopic techniques.
Dr. Senders graduated from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in general surgery at Case Western Reserve University/UH Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed fellowships in Complex General Surgical Oncology and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Ky while also earning a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation Sciences at the University of Louisville School of Public Health.
He is a member of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society of Surgical Oncology and American College of Surgeons.
