Welcome, Shane Quiterio, MD, PhD
Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes board-certified emergency medicine physician Shane J. Quiterio, MD, PhD, to its medical staff.
Dr. Quiterio joins the team at the Emergency Departments at Penn Highlands Huntingdon, located at 1225 Warm Springs Avenue in Huntingdon, and Penn Highlands Tyrone, located at 187 Hospital Drive in Tyrone.
Dr. Quiterio holds both an MD and a PhD, and he has nearly two decades of experience in emergency medicine. He has practiced throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, and he is a highly published specialist.
Common treatments and procedures include laceration repair, incision and drainage of abscess, intubation, fracture and dislocation reductions, procedural sedation, chest tube placement, lumbar puncture and central line placement.
Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Quiterio practiced at Highlands Hospital in Connellsville; Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center in Windber; UPMC Monongahela Valley Hospital in Monongahela; Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg; Waynesboro Hospital in Waynesboro; UPMC Pinnacle Memorial in York; Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.; Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del.; Bayhealth Milford Memorial in Milford, Del.; Peninsula Regional Medical in Salisbury, Md.; Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md.; McCready Memorial in Crisfield, Md.; Christiana Hospital Emergency Department in Newark, Del.; and Newark Emergency Center in Newark, Del.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Del. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
