Welcome, John S. Banerji, MD

Penn Highlands DuBois welcomes John S. Banerji, MD, to its medical staff.

Banerji is a urologist who provides comprehensive care and cutting-edge treatment options for disorders of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive system. He joins Dr. Anuj Chopra, Dr. Michael Martynik and Dr. Joseph Chang at Penn Highlands Urology. He is currently seeing patients at 145 Hospital Ave., Suite 200, DuBois.

“Urology is a very specialized and technologically advanced branch of surgery,” Banerji said. “I have additional and specialized training in urologic oncology, which is cancer involving the genito-urinary tract. The future in urology is bright and exciting, with urology being in the forefront of robotic-assisted surgery. This new position will allow me to work closely with our team of specialized urologists to bring cutting-edge and holistic treatment to the region.”

Banerji comes to Penn Highlands from Horizon Urology UPMC in Hermitage, Pa.

He earned his medical degree from Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, where he, subsequently, completed an internship in general surgery, his residency in general surgery and his residency in urology. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in urologic oncology and endourology at Auckland City Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand and a fellowship in urologic oncology at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.

Banerji is a member of the Society of Urologic Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Association of Southern Urologists and the Tamilnadu and Pondicherry Association of Urologists.
