Welcome, George F. Guirguis, DO, FACOG

Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist George F. Guirguis, DO, FACOG, to its medical staff.

Dr. Guirguis joins the team at Penn Highlands Perinatal Consultants located at 869 Beaver Drive in DuBois, providing full-time telemedicine service to patients.

Dr. Guirguis specializes in perinatology, also known as maternal-fetal medicine, a subspecialty of obstetrics that focuses on the care of the fetus and complicated, high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Guirguis is an expert on medical, genetic and surgical complications of pregnancy and the effects on both the mother and the unborn baby. He is here to ensure mothers and newborns receive all the help they need.

Common treatments and procedures include 3D ultrasound, 4D ultrasound, chorionic villus sampling, genetic amniocentesis, high-risk pregnancy and multiple gestation management.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Guirguis founded and served as chief executive officer of Perinatal Diagnostic Centers of New York & New Jersey in Hoboken, N.J., and was the medical director at FemGyn Urgent Care Centers in Brooklyn, N.Y. He has practiced at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, Mont.; Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.; St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.; Bronson Healthcare Group in Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Raveco Medical in Forest Hills, N.Y.

Dr. Guirguis graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Morristown Medical Center, Atlantic Health System, in Morristown, N.J., and a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, N.J. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
