Two Penn Highlands Hospitals Implement New Visitor Process

Penn Highlands State College

Penn Highlands State College and Penn Highlands Tyrone have a new visitor process for the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees and physicians.

Beginning on August 18, 2025, all visitors will be signed-in and issued a Visitor sticker at the registration or the welcome desks. In order to obtain the sticker, the visitor must present a valid form of identification such as a driver’s license. If a visitor does not present an ID, they may be refused entry into patient areas and asked to leave the facility. A visiting minor or one accompanied by an adult will not be required to show ID. Visitors are required to keep their sticker visible at all times.

In addition, new signs have been installed at the Entrance Doors at both Penn Highlands State College and Penn Highlands Tyrone alerting visitors that the doors automatically lock at 5:00 PM and are closed on weekends directing visitors to use the Emergency Department entrance.

“At Penn Highlands Healthcare, we continuously evaluate how we can enhance safety and security across our health system, said Rhonda Halstead, Regional Market President – Central Region, Penn Highlands Healthcare. “This new visitor process will help our patients, visitors and staff feel more secure at our hospitals.”
