Welcome Molly DeFrain, DO
Penn Highlands Elk welcomes Molly DeFrain, DO, to its medical staff.
DeFrain, who is board certified in internal medicine, is a hospitalist who is providing care to patients admitted to the hospital. She is responsible for admitting patients to the medical floor and developing treatment plans. Additionally, she works with the hospital staff to develop discharge plans and provide patient and family education to aid in a successful transition following discharge.
“I am very excited about this new adventure at Penn Highlands Elk,” DeFrain said. “I am excited to be back home, surrounded by familiar faces. Penn Highlands is a great place to continue to develop my internal medicine skills, and I hope to be able to allow people to stay in St. Marys and receive exceptional care. I’m looking forward to working with a great team at PH Elk to take care of the residents of St. Marys.”
DeFrain earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from Allegheny College in Meadville. She later earned her post-baccalaureate certificate from Drexel University in Philadelphia before earning her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia. Additionally, she completed her residency in internal medicine at Aria-Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, where she earned the title of chief resident.
A native of St. Marys, DeFrain currently resides there with her husband, Scott Meholic, and their son, Miles.
