New Family Physician at PH Elk

Penn Highlands Elk is pleased to welcome Kapil Pruthi, DO, to its medical staff. A board-certified family physician, Dr. Pruthi will begin seeing patients alongside Dr. T. Murray Baker and Dr. Julia Garcia at Penn Highlands Family Medicine, located at the St. Marys Community Medical Building beside Walmart.

He stated, “I am excited about joining Penn Highlands Elk. I enjoy working in a community setting, in which I can develop close bonds with my patients. That is an important part of promoting good health. Also a smaller hospital gives everyone a chance to work closely and help each other out.”

Dr. Pruthi attended the Gajra Raja Medical College in India and then relocated to the United States. He completed his medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. He then completed a residency in family medicine at Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.

“We have been actively seeking additional family physicians for our area,” said Mark Norman, COO of Penn Highlands Healthcare and interim president of Penn Highlands Elk. “We are excited to have Dr. Pruthi joining us and to expand Dr. Baker and Garcia’s practice.”

In his spare time, Dr. Pruthi enjoys playing volleyball and watching movies.
