Christmas Keeps Coming at Pinecrest Manor
St. Marys’ Area Mary Kay Cosmetic Consultants sponsored the 2nd Annual Adopt-a-Grandparent Program at Pinecrest Manor. The consultants and their helpers delivered gifts of Mary Kay lotion and fuzzy socks, along with a loving note. The event is organized by Laura Claypool and Jeanne Sheetz.
The consultants also visit Pinecrest Manor on a monthly basis to pamper residents with Mary Kay facials. This has been an on-going service for three years and is one the residents really appreciate.
Other gifts were given to residents earlier in December. Caring members of the community - Patty Greene, Kate Shefcyk and Betty Trayer - began collecting donations in the early fall. They were then packaged and distributed by Santa’s elves.
“I posted on my Facebook that I needed help in doing this, and people stepped right up and offered whatever they could,” explained Ms. Greene. “I started to receive phone calls from different people wanting to meet up with me and give me what they had bought. I cannot even tell you how this made me feel. I was so touched by the out-pour of support and generosity.”
Each resident received a gift bag that included items like puzzle books, tooth paste, comb sets, pajamas and sweat pants. Donations were made by Central Hose Company, Northwest Savings Bank, GKN and St. Marys Pharmacy. The South St. Marys Elementary 2nd graders decorated gift bags.
“We really have an amazing community of big hearts. Each and every one that had a hand in this event knows how important it is to make sure that no one is forgotten,” said Greene.
