Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes certified registered nurse practitioner Betty lou Schau to its medical staff.
Betty lou joins the team at Penn Highlands Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, located at 145 Hospital Avenue, Suite 311, in DuBois.
Betty lou has more than two decades of experience in multiple areas, including trauma, critical care, emergency medicine, pre-hospital EMS, community paramedicine, long-term care, rehabilitation and behavioral health.
"With over 25 years of experience in a diverse array of healthcare environments, I am committed to providing compassionate holistic care to the community as an Advanced Practice Provider with the Penn Highlands Orthopedic team," Schau says.
Common treatments and procedures include carpal tunnel treatment, hand surgery, joint replacement surgery, micro-invasion carpal tunnel release, non-surgical orthopedic care, occupational therapy, orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, rehabilitation services and sports medicine.
Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Betty lou practiced at Community Care Center in Huntingdon, Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation Healthcare Center in Altoona, Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Punxsutawney, Penn Highlands DuBois, UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, TruStaff Agency Nursing in DuBois, EmergyCare in Erie and Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Betty lou earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in St. Charles, Ill., and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University in Erie. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, Pennsylvania State Medical Assistance Team, Regional Medical Reserve Corps and Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council.
