Health Expo Slated for Clearfield
Penn Highlands Clearfield Health Expo Set for May 10
Many health and human service organizations plan to participate in the annual Penn Highlands Clearfield Health Expo, planned for Tuesday, May 10, from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., at Florian Banquet Center, Mill Road, Clearfield.
The purpose of the expo is to bring service providers together in one location for the convenience of the residents of local communities. There is no charge to attend.
Exhibitors will have displays and information about their services, which include fitness programs, children’s services, long-term care, women’s health, financial services, support groups, home health care, home medical equipment, behavioral health services, community volunteer opportunities, hearing services, health insurance programs and community resources for senior citizens.
Some exhibitors will perform free health screenings. For example, the hospital’s Imaging Department plans to offer a screening for osteoporosis, while the Wound Clinic will perform skin assessments. Penn Highlands Clearfield Home Health nurses will perform blood pressure screenings and oxygen saturation testing. The Lung Center of Penn Highlands Healthcare will provide eligibility screenings for low dose CT scan (lung cancer screening) and the Penn Highlands Clearfield Education Department will be demonstrating hands-only CPR.
Other free screenings include vision screening, grip strength, body fat analysis and fall assessment, among others.
The state Department of Health will provide shingles shots at low or no cost to those 50 and older who are underinsured (insurance does not cover the vaccine) or uninsured (no insurance). Those interested are asked to call 765-0542 before the expo to schedule an appointment and verify eligibility.
There will be door prizes and giveaway items. For more information, please contact Amy Duke, director of marketing, at 768-2827.
